As part of the nationwide “Swachhata Hi Seva 2024” campaign initiated by the Government of India, Green Leaf Foundation, Gossaigaon organized a Cleanliness Drive and Plantation Programme on 02 October 2024 near the 27 No. National Highway at Haraputa Mission under Gossaigaon Sub-Division of Kokrajhar district.
The programme was organized with the objective of promoting environmental cleanliness, public sanitation awareness, and community participation in line with the objectives of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Members of Green Leaf Foundation, along with enthusiastic local youth from Haraputa and Bhairiguri areas, actively participated in the cleanliness drive by cleaning public spaces, removing waste materials, and spreading awareness regarding hygiene and environmental responsibility.
Alongside the cleanliness campaign, a plantation drive was conducted at Haraputa NELC Church and Haraputa Girls ME School to promote green cover, environmental conservation, and sustainable surroundings. The programme emphasized the importance of plantation and community stewardship towards nature protection.
The programme was graced by Mr. Alfred Murmu, retired Headmaster of Haraputa Girls ME School and Advisor to Green Leaf Foundation, who actively participated in the plantation activities and encouraged community members and youth to adopt environmentally responsible practices.
The initiative was implemented with the support and cooperation of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Kokrajhar and MY Bharat – Kokrajhar under the Department of Youth Affairs, Government of India.
The programme not only contributed towards beautification and sanitation of the area but also strengthened youth engagement, environmental awareness, and community participation for a cleaner and healthier society.
